Infusion therapy is when a drug is administered with a needle or catheter into your veins (intravenously) or with a needle into the tissue just below the skin (subcutaneous). These routes of administration are used when there is not an oral form of medication available, or your prescriber believes that oral medicine will not be effective enough.
There are many conditions across all medical specialties that are treated with infusion therapy. Some examples are immune deficiency, inflammatory diseases, neuromuscular diseases, infections, cancer and blood disorders.

There are several options for patients that cannot afford their therapy, such as financial assistance programs, drug manufacturer programs, foundations that aid, payment plans, etc.
